The 2024 China Overseas Talent Innovation and Entrepreneurship Competition, UK section was held on Friday, 14th June in central London. Supported by China Association of Science and Technology (CAST), organised by the International Technology Transfer Network (ITTN) and Globaltech lP(GTIP), and hosted by Hawksford, the prestigious annual entrepreneurship competition brought together technology talents and leading innovation companies from all over the UK, Europe and the Middle East. It is also supported by Nanjing Tensen International Technology Transfer Centre in China and P4 Precision Medicine Accelerator, Big Innovation Centre, Oxfordshire Greentech, Cambridge Cleantech and many technology-focused organisations across Great Britain.
Chen Rui, Deputy Director of the China International Science and Technology Exchange Centre, Ding Mingqin, Minister Counselor of Science and Technology of the Embassy of the People’s Republic of China in the UK and Zhang Zhang, Secretary-General of ITTN gave welcome addresses, followed by announcements from the representatives of the supporting organisations: Gao Chengcheng, the European Office of China Investment Promotion Agency, Europe, Ministry of Commerce, Rebecca Cox and Winnie Seow Mei, representatives of Hawksford and Peter Tensen, CEO of Globaltech lP.
Over 25 carefully selected high-growth technology projects presented their innovations on the day online and in person and were assessed virtually and live in London by nine Chinese and five British judges. Expert judges on both sides examined and assessed all the projects throughout the day and selected 10 top companies to continue to the finals in Nanning, China in July.
The winners list is as follows:
1. Oxford Vacmedix: Development of therapeutic agents for the treatment of cancer based on recombinant overlapping peptides (ROPs).
2. Odqa: Production of high-grade heat from concentrated sunlight for industrial process heat, electricity, and solar fuel applications.
3. My Personal Therapeutics: Development of personal discovery process that provides individuals with personalised cancer treatment.
4. Cambond: Building net zero solutions for sustainable farming and resilience.
5. Seeds of Colour: Offering cruelty-free, vegan, non-toxic, organic pharmaceutical and cosmetics products.
6. Smart Foil: Development of nanostructure-based self-heating soldering materials
7. Magway: Offering automated, energy-saving hyperlogistics by revolutionising transportation of goods using proprietary magnetic technology.
8. Alcyomics: Providing unique non-animal, non-artificial, human-based in vitro assays that transform drug development by enabling early and accurate identification of safe and efficacious compounds.
9. Chilton Computing: Advanced AI and data engineering applied to ageing and medical care.
10. Eupnoos: Digital medical application providing intelligent detection of cardiopulmonary and respiratory conditions.
